Very fine French violin by Joseph Hel, Lille 1884
Very fine French violin by Joseph Hel, Lille 1884
I am pleased to be able to offer this beautiful, rare, fine example by Joseph Hel, made in Lille 1884 with the serial number 60. It is one of the most beautiful works by this master in perfect condition. The instrument shows no cracks or repairs! The violin has a stunning one-piece back with a horizontal flame, set on an aged gold orange-brown ground with a slightly luminous reddish-brown varnish. The original wear marks show how much the instrument was loved in its past. The beauty of the scroll is hard to beat, very tastefully carved, the violin offers what it promises on the outside. It has a powerful, well-carrying, typically French, open sound. A very nice robust G string and singing E and A strings. A really excellent instrument which is a pleasure for the eye and the ear.
