Good German cello by Richard Herold, Brunndöbra 1943
Good German cello by Richard Herold, Brunndöbra 1943
Richard Herold was a master from Brunndöbra near Klingenthal, a place that made history in violin making tradition. This cello was made by a master in Richard Herold's workshop in 1943, this example is one of the best qualities that this workshop delivered. The cello has a rare one-piece slab cut maple back, a richly applied red-brown oil varnish and a very beautiful individual scroll. The sound is really exceptionally good for this price range. It is very colorful, strong and dark and thanks to the very flat arching, is very good carrying and has a great response!
