Fine violin by Ignaz Penzl, made in Schönbach ca 1770. A beautiful, well-preserved specimen by this good violin maker. The instrument is excellently preserved, it has a great bright orange-yellow varnish and a very beautiful flamed one-piece maple back. As it was typical at the time, the violin is arched higher, giving it an incredibly beautiful, noble and luminous sound, which is not very big, but is absolutely sufficient for chamber music and orchestras.
